Our Favorites

Slicethepie

Slicethepie isn’t your standard review site. Slicethepie pays you to review mobile hardware, clothing items, and songs. Just look at a product, or listen to a song, and then give them your honest opinion on it. The more constructive and well thought-out your reviews are, the better your review score will be. You want to get good review scores to earn stars.

The more stars you have on your profile the higher your payout is per review. Slicethepie pays its users a decent amount per review depending on how many stars you have and what bonuses are in place. Sometimes they offer bonuses that will multiply your earnings on certain review options. Slicethepie is a quick way to make money if you’re willing to put in the time and strive for 5-stars on your reviews.

Entry Level:

Slicethepie starts you out at 0 stars, but it’s pretty easy to become a 4+ star reviewer with pretty minimal writing skills

Time consumption:

Slicethepie takes up at least 40 seconds per review just because of their different requirements. If you’re earning $.04 per review that’s a dollar every 6-7 minutes. Overall it’s not too time consuming and it’s easy to do while you’re watching TV.

Difficulty:

There’s hardly any difficulty with Slicethepie. As long as you have middle-school level writing skills or above and you take your time on the reviews you’ll have no problem getting your profile to 5 stars.

Earning Potential:

Slicethepie’s earning potential is pretty directly related to how often you use it, especially since there are no ways to earn passively. If you keep writing reviews you’ll keep earning money.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one of the most popular ways to make money on the internet. Swagbucks will pay you to do a variety of things, from watching videos, to answering surveys, searching the internet, and even looking at websites.  With Swagbucks, you can even get paid to shop! There are so many different ways to earn with Swagbucks, it’s hard to even list them all. If you want to check out all of the ways you can earn with Swagbucks take a look at our article on getting the most out of Swagbucks.

Entry Level:

There are no requirements to sign up with Swagbucks other than an email. It’s super easy to get started and make some money!

Time consumption:

If you’re using a passive method with Swagbucks it’s possible to make money without spending time on it

If you’re using an active method or some mix of the two it’s possible to spend a ton of time on Swagbucks. They give you so many different ways to make money, you could honestly spend all day on the site if you wanted to. If you’re looking to use Swagbucks as efficiently as possible count on 1-2 hours a day.

Difficulty:

There’s virtually no difficulty with Swagbucks. If you can read and write, you can make money with Swagbucks.

Earning Potential:

Swagbucks has a pretty massive earning potential. I’ve heard reports from people who get a $25 PayPal gift card every day just by doing surveys. Personally, I average that in a week.

Earnhoney

If you’re looking for easy ways to make money on the internet then Earnhoney is for you. Earnhoney is pretty similar to Swagbucks in the sense that they will pay you to watch videos on their site, complete offers, and play games.

Earnhoney’s Earnhoney TV is one of the easiest money making opportunities on the internet right now. It offers almost no effort. If you have a spare laptop or phone lying around you can earn it into an Earnhoney streaming device and use it to start making money. If you want to learn how to set up an Earnhoney farm OR other ways to make more with Earnhoney, check out our article.

Entry Level:

Only an email is needed to sign up. It’s super easy!

Time consumption:

Earnhoney can potentially take 5 minutes a day if you’re running a good Earnhoney TV farm. If you’re not doing that I’d say a daily visit to Earnhoney takes 30 minutes – 1 hour.

Difficulty:

Earnhoney has got to be one of the easiest ways to make money online. If you’re looking to make money with the least amount of effort, this is it.

Earning Potential:

Earnhoney’s earning potential is pretty big. Your account will get capped at about 100 HB an hour for if you’re not counting surveys and offers, so it’s really easy to earn over $20 a day if you’re running an Earnhoney farm at it’s biggest potential.

InstaGC

InstaGC stands for Instant Gift Cards, and that’s exactly what they offer! InstaGC operates very similarly to Swagbucks, although how you use them will differ slightly.

Although InstaGC offers lower payouts for their offers, most people report that they have an easier time completing the offers than they’ve had at Swagbucks. InstaGC is a great earner if you invest a little time every day to look for the highest and easiest offers, as well as taking advantage of the many other things the site has to offer.

If you’re looking at using InstaGC alongside Swagbucks I’d recommend picking one. They’re essentially the same website in terms of what they offer, so to split your time between the two would be inefficient. I’d only suggest using both if you find yourself running out of things to do on your primary choice.

Entry Level:

Just like with Swagbucks and Earnhoney, a caveman could do it.

Time consumption:

InstaGC takes up a little less time than Swagbucks does. InstaGC is way easier to qualify for surveys with, which means you have to spend less time trying to qualify, so your time is consumed less overall. This also helps keep your morale up as you won’t be having to take those losses so often.

Difficulty:

InstaGC is pretty easy to use. I’d say it’s no more difficult than Swagbucks or Earnhoney.

Earning Potential:

InstaGC has a really similar earning potential to Swagbucks. I’ve earned a little less with InstaGC on average than I have with Swagbucks, but I would also note that I don’t put as much effort in either.

User Testing

User testing is one of the easiest ways to make the most money. Of everything I’ve looked at, User testing offers the highest reward for the smallest amount of time. In only 20 minutes you can make $10. That means if you’re getting lots of tests you’ll be able to make $30 an hour.

User testing is essentially getting paid to test out people’s products, usually websites. It’s not just websites, though — I’ve been paid to review Linkedin profiles, look at google results, and provide marketing feedback. The wide variety of tasks helps to keep things interesting, and you won’t get bored of it too fast.

The only drawbacks with user testing are that you need to be incredibly professional with your tests, and it can be hard to actually get tests. Many sites will give you a limited number of tests every hour. If you want to counteract this make sure you sign up for a ton of different user testing websites, which we’ll cover in a future guide. With user tests you need to make sure you’re delivering the highest quality available in order to keep qualifying for tests.

Entry Level:

User testing takes a little bit of work to get into. Most user testing sites require you to submit an audition video to ensure that you’re able to deliver the quality reviews they’re looking for. The big requirements are that you can speak well, you’re technologically competent, and you can maintain a professional attitude. As long as you can do these things you shouldn’t have any issues.

Time consumption:

The nice thing about user testing is that it’s very straightforward about how much time something will take and how much you’ll get paid for it. Many tests operate on a time limit of some sort, ranging from 5 minutes to an hour, but about 20 minutes on average.

Difficulty:

User testing is harder than most beer money sites but still easier than boiling an egg. All you have to do is follow the very specific instructions given to you, and give insightful feedback. It’s really not as hard as it might sound, just give it a try.

Earning Potential:

User testing has a pretty huge earning potential. I watch two user testing sites pretty closely and that averages me about $50 a week.

Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate is probably the toughest money making method to get started with, but it has a far higher payout than any beer money site you’ll find.

Wealthy Affiliate is essentially an affiliate marketing platform. If you don’t know anything about affiliate marketing I would highly recommend that you take a look at our article on it here. With Wealthy Affiliate it’s easy to get your own website up and running and jump right into marketing a niche website of your own. Simply pick a niche to get involved in (like slow cookers, or collector’s items), and then find an affiliate program that will pay you for directing targeted traffic in their direction. Your affiliate program gets more customers, you get paid for it, and your readers get a product you know they’ll be satisfied with. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

The only drawback with Wealthy Affiliate is that it will take some time and hard work before you start seeing any big returns on your hard work. If you put in some serious effort it’s easy to make your first dollar within the month that you start, but your site might not start paying for itself until you put in about 100 hours of blood sweat and tears.

Entry Level:

Wealthy Affiliate is free to sign up with and get started. However, if you want to start seeing any serious success in your niche it’s going to be a good idea to invest in a premium account. These accounts start at $20 for the first month, then bump up to $50 a month after that.

As far as knowledge goes, pretty much anyone can get involved with affiliate marketing. As long as you have decent enough knowledge in any one niche, decent writing skills, and a decent work ethic, you’ll be able to turn your venture into a success.

Time consumption:

Wealthy Affiliate is incredibly time-consuming at first if you have any intention of taking it seriously. When you’re first starting out it’s not going to be easy, but it’s not impossible either. There’s a lot of writing involved and in order to establish yourself, you’ll have to fill your website with valuable content. However, once your website is well established there’s the opportunity for you to be able to pay people to write for you, or to market for you, or just to pick up the slack with things you don’t want to do. It’s very time consuming at first, but once you start making some money the opportunity for it to go autonomous is there.

Difficulty:

Like I said above, affiliate marketing is not easy to get started with. It’s a big market with a lot of people who want to get into it for the “easy dollar”. Unfortunately, there is no easy dollar. If you intend on being successful with affiliate marketing it takes work, but it’s nothing you can’t do. I’d say if you’ve got 8 hours a week you can invest in building your website then it’s worthwhile for you.

Earning Potential:

The earning potential with Wealthy Affiliate is massive. Many people with more experience in the field are able to build a website from scratch and have it making six figures by the end of the year. Growth in this field is exponential. 99% of people quit before they make their first dollar, but once you’ve made that first dollar it turns into 2 dollars, and then 4, and so on and so forth. The earning potential is really limitless depending on how far you’re willing to take it.

Now that we’ve taken a look at our favorites let’s see how they stack up against each other. For each category we’ve reviewed the sites on we’ll decide which ones are the best and worst, then give you a brief explanation on why we think so.

Entry Level

Easy – Swagbucks

The easiest money making opportunity is definitely Swagbucks or InstaGC. These two sites are easy to use, free to use, and they’ll still make you a decent amount of money.

Hard – Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate has a higher entry level simply because they have a monthly cost and you need to be willing to commit to their service if you want to make more money.

Time Consumption

Least – Earnhoney

Earnhoney takes the cake for the least time-consuming method. If you want to make money online while only having to spend 5 minutes a day on it set up an Earnhoney tv farm and watch the free money come in.

Most – User Testing

User testing has the biggest opportunity to take up the most of your time. In order to get invited to take tests you need to be constantly watching your available tests. This means you’ll be spending a lot of time waiting.

Difficulty

Least – Slicethepie

Slicethepie is definitely the easiest way to make money online. With Slicethepie all you have to do is look at something and then give your opinion on it. I don’t think it gets much easier than that. Slicethepie is an easy way to make money while you’re watching tv or Netflix.

Most – Wealthy Affiliate

Anyone in affiliate marketing will tell you that the beginning is a grind. In the beginning stages, affiliate marketing is by far the hardest way to make money online. However, if you’re willing to put in the effort it can also be the most profitable and eventually the easiest method. Wealthy Affiliate is the hardest to start with but the easiest to maintain.

Earning Potential

Lowest – Slicethepie

I believe that Slicethepie has the lowest earning potential of any of these methods simply because it’s so limited and it pays so little. There are no passive income options with Slicethepie, it’s limited to when you’re actively using it, and the payouts aren’t huge when you are using it.

Highest – Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate definitely has the highest earning potential of any other way to make money online. Many people can make six figures in under a year using their program. If you can work hard and turn your business into a success you’ll be able to make a lot of money online. Remember that growth with affiliate marketing is exponentail, so it starts out slow and then before you know it you’ll blow up.

  1. Hey Patrick. I like your article on earning a few extra $. It isnt too long but I feel it has given me some great choices to choose from. I must admit I never knew about any of them, except Swagbucks that is. I will be sure to check them out. Which one do you think is the best?
    For a newbie to them.

    1. Hey Nikola, thanks for the comment! My hope is to grow the list as I find more sites that I enjoy. I’d recommend checking out InstaGC if you’re looking for a more involved earning opportunity, and Earnhoney if you’re looking for some extra passive income. All of the sites I’ve listed are useful though, and I use them all daily.
